Thank you to everyone who contributed to an evening of fun, food and festivities … a joyful gathering of students, staff and parents, celebrating the international diversity of The Cherwell School.
From the colourful décor, national dress to foods from the five continents and poetry, music, dance, global travel and action – there was much to feast not only the palate but all five senses.
With special thanks to the Oxford African Drumming troupe for their rousing welcome, the exotic beat setting the tone for the evening. Thanks to all who shared of their cultures, through national dress, food and especially those who performed – West Papuan music & dance, French poetry, Irish fiddle tunes, travel account through Africa, and of course our very own Cherwell Chicken Project continuing to provide vital support to families in South Africa.
The International Quiz had us all wishing we had better global knowledge – guess the mysterious country outlines, match currencies to countries - riyal, baht, peso; find the language bienvenue! Vaazgha! Fon ngiang!
If you were not there, you missed a very special event. But don’t worry, it’s already in on the calendar for next year. So look out for the 2017 International Evening, and be sure to join the celebration.
